1. Surface Preparation by Using Compressed Air

ASPL, we offer high-pressure abrasive blast cleaning services using compressed air technology to remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, and other impurities from steel surfaces. This process ensures thorough surface preparation and enhances the adhesion and performance of subsequent protective coating systems.

The process of cleaning and preparing metal or concrete surfaces before coating application. It ensures removal of rust, mill scale, oil, and contaminants to achieve proper adhesion and long-term coating performance.

A method where abrasive material (grit/slag) is propelled using compressed air with different kinds of pressures 325 CFM to 650 CFM usually to clean surfaces to standards like SA 2.5. It is widely used for heavy-duty corrosion protection.

1. Surface Preparation by Using Compressed Air

  • Air compressor connected to blast pot
  • Abrasive filled in blast pot
  • Hoses connected to nozzle

2. Pressure Build-Up

  • Compressor generates required pressure (90–120 PSI)
  • Blast pot is pressurized

3. Abrasive Mixing

  • Abrasive mixes with compressed air inside pot
  • Flow controlled by metering valve

Cleanliness Standards

  • Sa 1 – Light Blast Cleaning: Surface appears partially cleaned; loose rust, mill scale, and paint are removed; tightly adherent contaminants remain; not suitable for high-performance coatings.
  • Sa 2 – Thorough Blast Cleaning: Most of the rust, mill scale, and coatings removed; slight staining/shadows may remain; surface looks grey with patches; used for moderate service conditions.
  • Sa 2½ – Near White Metal (Industry Standard): Almost completely clean surface; only slight discoloration allowed; no visible oil, grease, dirt, rust, or coating; ideal for epoxy, PU, and high-performance coatings.
  • Sa 3 – White Metal Blast Cleaning: 100% clean metallic surface; uniform silver-grey appearance; no stains or shadows; used for offshore structures, critical chemical environments, and high-corrosion zones (C5/CX).

2. Surface Preparation by Using ST-2/ST-3 Cleaning Process

Mechanical cleaning using hand tools or power tools (wire brush, grinder). ST-2 means thorough cleaning. ST-3 means very thorough cleaning with improved surface finish.

Used where blasting is not feasible due to plant restrictions, hazardous environments (like bromine, chemical plants), and maintenance jobs.

3. High Performance Coating Services

Airless spraying is a coating application method where paint is pumped at very high pressure (150–500 bar) through a small nozzle, atomizing the coating without using compressed air.

Instead of air, hydraulic pressure breaks the paint into fine particles, giving uniform coating, high transfer efficiency, and thick film build in fewer coats.

How Airless Sprayer Works: Pump system (electric / pneumatic), high-pressure hose, spray gun & tip, and fan pattern formation for even coverage.

Several Types of Tip shall be used as per the recommendation against the products.

Process

  • Surface Preparation: mechanical grinding / shot blasting; removal of oil, dust, laitance, and contaminants
  • Priming: epoxy primer to seal substrate and improve bonding
  • Surface Correction: crack filling, joint treatment, undulation correction using epoxy mortar
  • Intermediate Coat: epoxy / PU self-leveling or screed system for thickness and strength
  • Top Coat Application: final coat using Epoxy or PU for resistance and finish
